Thursday Report for Feb 10, 2011

On Tuesday Rick, Rod and myself found some nice powder over in Symphony in the secret bowl after a big traverse. I found I nice chute in there that is hidden by a band of trees. On Wednesday I went back and did a higher traverse and got a little extra vertical. Rod and Ross were supposed to come up but the highway was closed with a diesel spill.
Today was quite sunny most of the day. Low valley cloud in the morning but brilliant sunshine up top. Great cruising day with no crowds. Lower Cruiser and Heavenly Basin were groomed to perfection. Took a tour into the Blackcomb Glacier again. I think we are down to the glacier ice near the toe of the glacier but it is quite skiable with sharp edges. It felt Spring like today but with no slush. Just nice and warm in the sun.
Looks like lots of snow coming, especially on Monday, if they can actually predict that far ahead. Maybe we are getting back to our normal dose of lots of snowfalls.

Top of Symphony Chair from my high traverse.

I am heading to traverse above the trees which are above the rocks we usually go under.

Looking back after passing through the trees in the last shot. I couldn't quite get above them.
