Just wanted to start off with a message from Iain re last Thursday if you didn't believe me.
"Yep, Thursday was probably the best, deepest snow I have skied. Light and dry but you never got stuck in it, not like some of the 40+ cm. stuff (even though they were great) we have had in other years. I was up for fresh tracks did a bunch of incredible laps on Whistler before heading over to Blackcomb on the chance that the alpine opened. Lucked into the GE opening and decided to head down Ridge Runner - only 10 riders had been down before me so had untracked all the way to the rescue road - best non-stop powder run of my life. And like you said in your blog, lots of face shots everywhere. One for the record books (and easy to remember 2012-2012)."
Due to the Christmas season I didn't get up as much as usual. Friday was great powder again. We did Peak to Creek twice and a number of other powder runs. Saturday I went cross country skiing at Nicklaus North. They have a trial $10 fee just for that part of the cross country trails. If you don't like hills this is the place to go. On Sunday one of the best runs was Doom and Gloom. It was waist deep. I swear David actually disappeared on one turn. Today I was hosting of course and doing the Blackcomb Glacier Tour with Dan.. We were expecting it to be very busy but the crowds spread themselves out pretty good so the only lift that got busy on Blackcomb was Seventh Heaven. They are grooming a lot more runs then usual as there are a lot of novice skiers and boarders here. They even groomed the Blackcomb Glacier which as I recall never got groomed last year. I expect it will get busier through Saturday. They are opening the lifts at 8am at the moment to get the eager beavers up there first. Also the alpine is opening a lot quicker with the better weather which helps disperse the crowds. The mid mountain lifts are staying open until 3:30pm to give more on snow time.
Looks like some snow tomorrow and sunshine for the week
