I think this has been the best Spring skiing ever. For the most part it has been staying cold in the alpine with spring snow lower down. Still getting some powder days and lots of sunshine. No crowds at all, especially midweek. Remember midweek that you have to upload from the Wizard Chair so parking is going to be an issue unless you want to pay. The ski down from Base 2 will probably vanish this weekend. I still did it yesterday but barely. The ski down to Base 2 will probably still be OK for this weekend but probably not much after. This is the last weekend that you will be able to ski the Blackcomb Glacier Rescue Road due to construction of the new Crystal Chair. That means no lower Crystal Ridge, Spankys or hiking and skiing into the Blackcomb Glacier. Too bad, as these have been the best parts of the mountain.
It was a sad day yesterday as it was the last day for Jonny and Ali who are now heading out on their next adventure touring BC in a motorhome. After about a month they will be heading home to Scotland via Toronto. We wish them the best of luck. Jonny managed 150 days skiing with a full time job and both have become excellent skiers. Pretty amazing. I am at my goal of 120 days now which is a new record for me.
Looks like possible record high temperatures this weekend so again make sure you have Spring wax on your gear and lots of sunscreen on.
PS I am reporting early due to a Dentist appointment to pull an impacted wisdom tooth this afternoon. Yuck!
