Thursday Report for Jan 30, 2014

Not a lot happened this week. Skiing was pretty good except for a couple of days. Those days the runs were pretty rock solid. The groomers have been doing a great job moving snow onto the low points and softening it up. Usually it is best first thing in the morning.
Today we had fresh snow to make tracks in. Not a lot, but it sure felt good for a while. It snowed lightly all day. The best skiing was mid mountain and up. It hardened up again by the end of the day and the ski out was not that much fun. I found that the runs on Crystal Ridge were in very good shape and Upper Hugh's Heaven and Lower Cloud Nine were also much improved over last week. Other good news is that they have fired up a lot of the snow guns again so that will help soften up the ski outs.
Looks like the cold temperatures are returning for the coming week with nice sunshine again. If they keep making snow it should be pretty nice.
Tomorrow is the start of the two day Peak to Valley Race. It is the 30th year anniversary of this leg burning race. Looks like good weather for it. They should be able to start at the Saddle and finish at Creekside. Good luck to our Mountain Host Supervisor Carol who is in the race.
My prediction for the weather is that we will get a lot of snow but it might come late in the season. I figure if I predict this that it should cause the snow to come earlier.

Tour group today from Australia and Arizona.

Fresh snow today up to my toes.
