Another snowy week.
Had a great time last Thursday night up at the Roundhouse for the Length of Service Awards. Me and two of my Mountain Host Buddies received our 15 year awards. Fabulous food and entertainment.
Checked out a new secret tree run on Crystal Ridge. Looks like there is one entrance but at least three ways to exit. Sorry I would have to kill you if I told you where it was.
Snowboarded Ruby Bowl for the first time this year. It was very good. Watch out if you exit via Pillow Talk. I encountered a very big deep hole in there. Luckily I managed to jump it and crash on the other side.
The snow has been a bit heavy most of the week, better in the morning with more untracked snow. Good snowboarding snow.
Jackie and Stephanie were up for the BC High School races on Wednesday competing in the Ski Cross. We did a practice run the day before and it was pretty scary for us Adults. I haven't heard how they did, but they are pretty good skiers, so I assume they did well.
This morning I had some very nice powder runs. Crystal Ridge opened late so was untracked longer then normal. A lot of people were falling in the new snow and having trouble getting up again.
Had a very interesting tour today with the bad light and snow conditions. It was quite the struggle getting my tour across the Horstman Glacier to get to Crystal Ridge. Hidden wind drifts were the main problem. Everybody survived a real Canadian Alpine Adventure.
Looks like a ton of snow coming over the weekend on the mountain but again on the heavy side. Will probably be rain in the valley. It is looking like the temperature is going to drop again on Monday and get back to normal.
Remember Daylight Savings Time starts Saturday night.
