Thursday Report for Mar 3 2017

Still pretty solid up there but we have been getting a little new snow lately and more to come. Hopefully things will start to soften up soon. Some of the Alpine runs are still good, like the Blackcomb Glacier and Rhapsody Bowl. One cool thing that happened this week was that they groomed Upper Catskinner to Upper Gear Jammer to Lower Gear Jammer. Fun to ski the steeps when they are groomed.

I heard of some changes coming next season. All of the lift scanners will have their radio frequencies changed for RFD to UHF to allow the Epic Pass to work here, They will read the passes at a greater distance I hear. Rumours of some chairlifts being changed to 6 packs. One priority might be 7th Heaven if they can enlarge the loading and unloading areas as there is limited space. Vail has also just bought Stowe Vermont.

Managed to get the 500,000 meter vertical and 75 day badges this week. No wonder my knees are getting sore.

Looks like snow is forecast for a week with some rain mixed with snow in the Valley. Whistler Blackcomb's website is now showing forecasts a week out. Interesting to see if they can accurately get it right that far out. Hope tomorrow will be good if it keeps snowing. Very high wind is predicted though.

There might not be a Thursday Report next week as I am going on a road trip on the Powder Highway to Revelstoke, Whitewater and Red Mountain. Not sure I can do it using my tablet very easily.

Hope the photos are OK. My camera lens jammed today and I had to take them with my old phone with lower resolution.

Blackcomb Glacier Tour today. It was a bit of a challenge today with the light and the varied snow.

My skis started to disappear when the snow started to come down harder late afternoon.
A bit of a stormy day today.
