The peak chair on Whistler opened on Saturday which resulted in the busiest early season weekend I have ever seen. I had to check my calendar as I thought it might have been the Christmas Holidays. Great powder but you had to be careful off piste as you can scrape a rock once and a while. Remember it is still early season.
Lots of cars from far away. Saw Colorado, California, Georgia and New York plates this week. I guess with the lack of snow down South they are driving North with their Epic passes.
The rumours have it that more of the alpine on both mountains will be opening this weekend. I would think Harmony, 7th Heaven and Glacier Express would be the chairs opening. Symphony probably the next weekend.
Today I caught Spring Fever as the temperatures up top soared. No jacket or gloves required in the afternoon.The snow held up fine though. Ski out is open on Blackcomb to the Daylodge now.
Of course the big news announced this morning is that Vail Resort is going to spend 66 million CDN to replace the Wizard, Solar, Catskinner and Emerald Chairs. Wizard and Solar will become a gondola. Catskinner a high speed 4 passenger quad chair and Emerald a high speed 6 passenger quad chair. Also 21km of new mountain bike trails on Whistler will be built. It is going to be a busy Summer on the slopes. See the News Release here.

Looks like more sun on the way with no sign of new snow for a while. Good thing we have a decent base for now. The skiing is great.
Please lock your skis. A pair of very unique expensive skis were stolen this morning up top in a matter of seconds. Hopefully they caught the guy on the security camera if that helps. I think these were the ones stolen so if you see them tell a staff member.
