Thursday Report for Jan 5, 2012

It has been quite the stormy week with lots of new snow on the mountain and pouring rain in the valley. Wednesday was so stormy that they couldn't even get the Solar Coaster Chair open.
Today was probably the busiest Thursday on this date I have ever seen. Still lots of tourists here, some because it is still an Ontario School Break and others because a lot of places in the US and Europe do not have a lot of snow. Big lineups at 7th Heaven all day, even after it closed. They sent Mountain Hosts Jane and Carol there at the end of the day to tell the people to get out of the line and ski down as the lift was closed. I think the Liftee thought he was going to be shot if he tried it. Jane and Carol are tough. Nice powder halfway up the Solar Coaster and above. I would say about 10 inches in the untracked spots that I found.
Demoed some Rossi S3's today. Nice easy rockered ski. I think I would buy them if the price was right and I needed a new pair of skis.

High traverse in Rhapsody Bowl on the weekend

Which led to this steep untracked pitch.

Powder tracks today on my secret powder run.

A bear on our porch the other day.
Looks like more snow on the way but nothing major. Watch the freezing level on the weekend as it is a warm front that is coming in.

If you have ever wondered how they keep the T-Bar towers straight when the glacier moves see this video.
