Thursday Report for Jan 2, 2014

Here is hoping 2014 will be bringing lots of new snow.

Thank you to Bob and Jan for putting on the Annual Valley Drive Golf Tournament on New Years at their house. I finally won after all these years of trying with my partner Sandra, who must have been fresh off of the LPGA Tour. Your are probably scratching your head about this one. They build a miniature golf course using almost every room, including bathrooms and stairwells in the house. It is great fun.

I didn't go up the mountain until yesterday from last Thursday. It was real slick with lots of places that you needed to watch out for loose rocks. Checked out the Blackcomb Glacier. It was alright on the glacier but the road was very scary. Solid and slippery with some rocks. Not very crowded.

Today it was night and day from yesterday. It was snowing 3/4 of the way up the Wizard Chair and by the end of the day it was snowing to the Valley. The rocks are starting to get covered. I even got some fresh tracks. It snowed hard all day. Again not that crowded.

I think it might be a good idea to get to the lifts tomorrow at 8:15 am, as it could be real nice if this snow keeps up into the evening. We might even see some sun tomorrow, cloudy over the weekend, and then snow returning next week around Thursday of course.

According to the guy at Accuweather, he has been the only one to come close to predicting the weather this Winter. He is saying after the first week of January that our weather will return to normal. See http://www.accuweather.com/en/ca/whistler/v0n/weather-forecast/53264 for the Whistler weather.

Check out these sites of Marielle Thompson, my neighbour, who is going to Sochi Winter Olympics for the Canadian Ski Cross team. http://mariellethompson.com/

Sapphire Bowl. Looks kind of rocky.

Swamp Thing. You have to cross the creek on a little bridge..

Ruby Bowl. I think I will pass on this until we get more snow.
