Thursday Report for Dec 3, 2015

Lots of sunny days until today. Good coverage in most places and they opened the Peak chair last Friday. The entrance to the Saddle was a little scary with ice and rocks but once past that it was in good shape. Looks like they are getting Harmony ready to open but I haven't heard anything.
Yesterday was probably the best day so far with sunshine and powder. We did lots of runs from the Peak through the Symphony Amphitheater past the Harmony Chair back to Emerald.
Today was interesting. It was raining to the bottom of the Solar Coaster but had dumped a fair amount of snow above that. They said 4cm of new but there was way more than that. There was lots of untouched snow in the morning that was actually quite skiable. It wasn't as good in the afternoon as it warmed up and the snow got chopped up. At the very end of the day the snow was good again and easy to turn in but it was raining. The ski out is good on Whistler to the Village and ok on Blackcomb. If it stays warm with rain the Blackcomb side may wash away.

Looks like lots of snow coming for the alpine through the weekend which should give us a great base mid mountain up. Maybe even some sun tomorrow. I hope they open the Peak tomorrow as there is lots of new snow up there that hasn't been touched. Colder weather overnight and the winds might affect it though. They had to close the Peak to Peak today as gusts were over 80 km/hr. Lots of sightseers had to download the Blackcomb Chairs in improper clothes, but they had fun.

Peak Chair opening last Friday

Robert, Rod, Ed and Patti on Burnt Stew Trail on Friday

Powder on Wednesday

More powder tracks

The blizzard this morning. See how deep it was against Rick's legs and skis.
