Thursday Report for Feb 18, 2016

The initial forecast for this Winter has been fairly accurate. They predicted a warm up around the middle of January. It happened a little later then that but it is warmer then normal now. Skiing is still good although a few more rain days in the valley.
On Friday it was quite wet up to just below the Roundhouse but there was a ton of new snow in the Peak area. It was very heavy but I managed on my skinny skis. Should have been on my snowboard.
This past weekend and week has been very busy with the American Holiday and school holidays in a lot of places. Tuesday seemed like a Xmas Holiday weekend. Huge lineups to get up the mountain with hotels all booked out and lots of new snow.
Today was a mixed bag. Nice light slush on the lower slopes and powder on the Glaciers. The sun even made an appearance late in the day up top.
The Horstman T-Bar finally opened this week 3/4 the way up and now is open to the top.I am still trying to find out what happened to the test snowguns up there but they are missing in action.
I have found out the number 2 person on WB+ is Frank B. and Al B. is not far behind. The top person wins a seasons pass for next Winter. Also found out that since I am staff we are rated against other staff, not the public, which makes sense. It is hard to keep ahead of staff like Ski Instructors and Ski Patrol but I am in 83rd place.
Looks like the temperatures will start dropping and getting back to normal over the weekend. Some snow and some sun coming up.

Blackcomb Glacier tour today
Just a few people wanting  to get to the powder on the Glacier Express on Tuesday

Jersey Cream was also busy.

Weather was nice though.

One of the avalanche dogs thanking us for donating our tips to them.
