Thursday Report for Jan 4 2018

Another great week. Even though it was busy it didn't seem as busy as usual. New Year's Eve and New Year's Day were real quiet. People are definitely getting to the base lifts later then they used to in the morning causing lineups peaking around 10am to 11am. Getting to the lifts at 8:15 gives you many, many runs all to yourself and your friends.
Saturday was a big powder day and again the early birds beat the crowds and had a fabulous day. Most of the week there has been a temperature inversion with colder temperatures in the valley and warmer temperatures up top. Sures feels weird when skiing to the valley. It is liking walking into a freezer. Snow has been better on the lower slopes with the colder temps. Some of the off piste up top is not the greatest. Most of the groomed runs have been in great shape.
Looks like a lot of snowy days coming up for a week, once we get through tonight and tomorrow morning with possible rain showers and the temperature inversion getting kicked out.
Has anybody noticed the Dark Knight pin for Whistler Blackcomb that is impossible to win on Epic Mix. Ski 10 lifts after 4pm to win it.

Mountain Host tour today.
We awoke to this on Saturday morning.

Barb snowshoeing on the Bob's Rebob Trail.

Armchair Glacier from the Rainbow Trail.

We got up on Blackcomb early on New Year's Day to see 6 groomers heading back up Wishbone. What a great day!

Ice cave on the Blackcomb Glacier.

A closer look. It goes in a lot further than last year.

Looking out from inside.
