A great week! We got another powder dump on the Saturday. Weekenders are getting lucky this year. Most of the week it has been a ghost town on the mountains which is fabulous. No lineups and no problems getting a table in the restaurants. The big dump happened last night with over 42cm of new snow. Buzz, the world's oldest liftee, thought it was the probably the biggest crowd he has ever seen in the Village for uploading on a mid-week day in a non holiday period. I unluckily happened to pick the Wizard for my morning shift. The lineups were huge but luckily there weren't as many little Ski School kids like the Thursday before. Wayne Flann's Avalanche Blog predicted this snowfall but nobody else did. At least that is what he said. I am getting worried about Thursdays as they seem to be busier than Saturdays now. By the afternoon the mountain was empty as every Local finally showed up for work. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to get a talk to or get fired.
Huge winds one early morning this week of over 130km/hr on the Peak.
Looks like the Horstman T-bar will be opening soon. Saw some activity there yesterday and it was running. Also maybe the snowmaking there will be starting up. Not sure what took them so long to start up the snowguns as it is March now.
Might be a little snow this week but mainly sunny with clouds. Hope it continues to be quiet midweek. It might be busy this weekend if the Vancouver crowd get excited about all the new snow. Too bad guys as it is all skied out, but the base is getting deeper. They have had to cut stairs in the snow at the far end of Lot 6 to get onto Village Run. It must be 8 ft deep there now.
