Thursday Report for Mar 22, 2018

I am getting used to skiing hardpack and have been having fun cruising around. It sure is the quietest Spring Break I have ever seen. Most days you can ski right onto the lifts. I have found out that this is Vail's strategy. They don't want lift lines so they must be willing to make less money. Hopefully this doesn't mean food prices and lift ticket prices are going to go up again to achieve this strategy. I think another reason for it feeling like there are less people is that we have a different type of skier here this year. Epic Pass holders that show up at the lifts at 9:30am and can only ski a few runs before they are tired and go back to their hotel rooms. There are definitely a lot of lower end skiers this year.
On Sunday it was the 10th anniversary of the Epic Pass. Even though we have only had it for 1 year here, they celebrated at the Roundhouse with free Bailey's with hot chocolate and also champagne. There was lots to go around as no one seemed interested except for the Managers.
We finally got new snow today. It snowed all day and it is still snowing. It was raining in the Valley this morning so that must have kept the powderhounds away. Lots of powder and nobody to ski it. It is now snowing in the Valley. Maybe tomorrow will be good as well. Just a few tours went out today with the poor visibility up top.

The GMC truck is getting around this year. Here it is outside the back of the Roundhouse.

And in Lakeside Bowl below the Blackcomb Peak. I want to know where they keep the keys so I can take it for a test drive.
