I know I keep saying this but another great week has passed. I went up on Friday with my snowboard. The visibility wasn't great all of the time but there was lots of powder. On our run down the Horstman Glacier to go for lunch it was over my knees in untracked powder. Monday was another awesome powder day with sunshine and we did 2 runs down the Blackcomb Glacier in wonderful snow. Guess what? Wednesday was another sunshine and powder day with nobody on the hill. Every run all day, except for the last one down, we found untracked snow. Doesn't get any better. Oh one more thing. It was like glue skiing down that day from mid station down. It was really hard and scary with all the sticking going on.
Well just as most of us thought. The WB website was wrong about the closing dates. Blackcomb is staying open until May 24 and Whistler's last day is Apr 18. This is normally what happens. After Apr 18 the hours will be 10am to 4pm with access via the Excalibur Gondola. At least that means we can still park for free in the upper lots.
The new Season Pass and Edge Card prices are 20% less for next season. They have forgotten to post the Super Senior's pass rate as usual but there is one. So you 75 year olds and plus skiers are OK. Do they not check their work before they update their site? What I don't understand is why the Adult Epic pass with no tax is cheaper then the Adult WB pass and then it has tax on top of it. With the Epic pass you can ski all the Vail Resorts for free but it is 1/2 price with the WB pass. The other benefits are hard to distinguish if they are much different between the two of them. The only thing I can really see is that the WB pass gets unlimited Summer sightseeing access and a discount on lessons. Something fishy here. At least we still can get a Senior and Super Senior rate at our Resort.
Now, with this lower price I would think they will sell more passes next year, So will it be busier then a normal year? I guess we will have to wait and see. Lets hope with the vaccinations finished by the start of next season we should be back to normal.
It also has been announced that the reservation system to book you ski days will not be used next year. We haven't had any sell out days for a long time now.
Spring Breakers and their crack of Noon Club should be gone after this weekend We might have some Ontarions still though. Funny on Tuesday there wasn't much of a line up at Creekside until around 10:30am when it all of a sudden it went over the bridge into Creekside Village. There is a new webcam on whistlerpeak.com that shows the stroll through Creekside Village.
This is the last day for cross country skiing and snowshoeing in Lost Lake Park.
A not so professional video I took on Monday in the Blackcomb Glacier with pro skiers, Mike, Ove and Rod. https://vimeo.com/528576773 . Thanks to Mike for fixing it a bit.
Now for the forecast. Looks like lots of snow for Saturday through Sunday otherwise a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures on the mountain should remain cold enough.
Time in the Valley to get my e-bike out and I have. Had to dig my basement door out to get at it. The snow has left my driveway and some grass is starting to show on the south side of the house.
Sorry I have no photos from deep powder Friday as it was hard to take pictures when I was getting face shots of snow.
Above the clouds first thing on Monday morning
Horstman Glacier from the Glacier Chair. They opened this chair and the Showcase T-Bar early.
Mike and Rod getting ready to hit the Blackcomb Glacier. Nice skis Rod! They look like mine. Notice we are the only ones there.
View from the top of the hike up to the Blackcomb Glacier. The hike seems easier this year. Maybe because of all the snowshoeing I have done this year.
Yahoo, lets go.

Looking back up. Still a long ways to go down. It looks so crowded.

On Wednesday they were clearing the snow off of the back deck of the Roundhouse. That is a lot of snow.
Heading down into the Burnt Stew area on our secret run. It might be slightly out of bounds. Notice how busy it was, oh, I knew all of them. We were the crowd.
