Thursday Report for Feb 2, 2012

Wednesday Feb 1 was probably one of the best days this year. Sunshine,  powder and no crowds. What a great day!

Today was a little strange. No crowds again but the snow went a little wet. I think the temperature went up drastically up high. The snow down at the bottom stayed nicer into the early afternoon.
We took a tour into the Blackcomb Glacier of 8 people from all over the World. Wasn't the easiest snow to ski but everybody did well. On the run out we got up to 65.9 km/hr. We had big tour numbers but managed even though we were short staffed. It always seems when the mountains aren't busy that we get more people on tours. Go figure.

The forecast is calling for a high pressure system to move in which will produce quite a bit of sun into the near future. It will be a major inversion though with much warmer temperatures up top. Get ready to get colder as you descend.

This Friday and Saturday is the Peak to Valley Race on Whistler. Also World Cup Bobsleigh/Skeleton races on are on at the Whistler Sliding Center this afternoon and evening as well as Friday and Saturday afternoons and evenings.
