Thursday Report for Mar 15, 2012

Wow what a stormy snowy week! We have received 185cm in the last 7 days. Just when I thought it was time to put the extra gas for my snow blower in my truck it snowed big time in the valley as well. I have had it out 3 times this week. It has also been very busy with Spring Break.
Only got up Tuesday and today, due to my stupid cold that won't go away, but it was amazing!

This was Ed above Sun Bowl last Friday, Great shot by Mike
Tuesday I went up with Art. It was pretty crowded at the Wizard but we managed to avoid most lines after that. Glacier Chair had a massive lineup with people waiting for it to open. When we go to the top of Jersey Cream I heard on a staff radio that they opened Glacier and 7th Chairs. We went to 7th and there was nobody there. We got two fabulous deep powder runs there. Then we went to Secret Chute and it was probably the deepest powder I have boarded this year. Yahoo!!

Riding the 7th Chair. Note nobody there and no tracks.

Art learning to ski deep powder on his new fat skis. As he would say "Quad burn"!!

Today I woke up to Oh Oh I hope I can get out of the driveway. Thank goodness for four wheel drive. I must have had 2 feet on top of the back of my truck. Better to dump it in the skier parking lot then my driveway.

My balcony this morning.

It was almost too deep up on the mountain today. They didn't get the alpine open due to the huge winds. It was blowing 80 to almost 100 kmh from the top of Solar to the top of Crystal Chair. Managed to get one run in before it got too tracked down the Terrain Garden.

It is getting deep in front of the Mountain Host Hut. We have to go down about 4 ft onto our deck now.

Quite the storm!

My tour group today on Slingshot. It cleared up briefly for a photo.

Johnathan (frEEK) one of our Mountain Hosts shaved it all off for Charity
For more details go to www.bikeland.org . Both photos are actually pretty scary. He looked much better when he had green or red hair in the old days.

Looks like more snow through the weekend although not the big ones like we have just had. Originally it was going to be Sunny this weekend but they have changed their minds. I tend to think that the original forecast will be correct due to what I have witnessed a lot this Winter. Lets wait and see.
