Thursday Report for Jan 7, 2016

Things are back to normal now with the holiday crowds gone along with the lineups. Snow is great and the sun is out. You couldn't ask for more except for a huge dump of new snow. The groomers are working the snow and most of the hard spots on the runs are gone. Best snow is on the glaciers of course.

Looks like nice temperatures through the weekend and sun according to the Alpine Forecast. The Valley Forecast is calling for clouds and some snow. Let see who is right. I am betting on the first one as it is clear now. It is possible for both to happen though, so maybe we will be skiing above the clouds. Just to let you know I just came back from Squamish and it was overcast down there but clear in Whistler.

Huge Blackcomb Glacier tour today.
Barb walking on the White Gold Traverse. Looks like this trail might be free to use for walking or snowshoeing. It is very handy as it is right behind our house in Lost Lake Park. The mountain bike trails all over the valley are great snowshoe trails.

Here is a view looking down and over to Whistler Olympic Station from Sunset Boulevard on Blackcomb. This is the Sasquatch Zipline. Wow I have to try this next Summer. Very steep and fast I would think.

Powder snow on Wednesday in the Blackcomb Glacier.

The ice cave with Husume behind.

One of the Joffre Lakes that Iain and gang snowshoed up to on the weekend.
