Thursday Report for March 24, 2016

Quite the foggy week. I have seen fog before on the mountain but this week was extremely thick everywhere. Hopefully today was the end of it. Monday was one of the better days with untracked powder everywhere in the Alpine and nobody there. I had 3 firsts that day. First tracks in Rhapsody Bowl, first tracks in the traverse to Lesser Flute and first tracks down Lesser Flute. I had the Symphony area all to myself for hours.
Spring is arriving to the Valley fast now. The snow is almost gone from my lawn and it usually rains in the Valley now instead of snow. The temperatures are fine for snow to still fall in the Alpine.
Since Easter is early this year on the weekend I expect the crowds to diminish next week even though we have tons of snow. Good time to come up and get a ton of turns in.
It is supposed to be Sunny tomorrow, Saturday and Monday on with temperatures getting very warm. The slush on the lower mountain is very thick but the snowboard works fine in it. My legs really burn when I am on my skis in that stuff.
If you want a fun apres go to Merlins on Friday to see the Hairfarmers.
Here is a link to a YouTube video of Col. Bob in a tree well this past week. Luckily he landed upright. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSqMpn8lmcc&sns=em

Blackcomb Glacier Tour today.
See how thick the fog was today. The Solar Coaster Chair should be easily visible from here.
Huge crowd at The Symphony chair on Monday and this was just before lunch.
Lots of empty chairs and powder.

No tracks.

Looking up a virgin powder on Lesser Flute.

Ready to attack the fresh stuff.

Probably hard to see but those are my tracks all the way down from the ridge above. There was much more below me to do as well. Who needs to go heli skiing?

Kit celebrating her 81st apres at Merlins on Friday.
Col. Bob with some of the good looking girls at Merlins.
Some of the crazy partiers at Merlins.

Dancing on the rail. You know who you are. A local roofer and ski instructor.
