Thursday Report for Jan 5 2017

What a great week. After the big snowfall on last Thursday the whole world showed up on Friday. A new record was set for the number of people on the hills. It blew away the previous number. We managed to get there early and ride up the Fitzsimmons Chair from the singles line and do a couple of laps to mid station on the Village Gondola before the masses hit. It was a game trying to figure out how to avoid the line ups. We failed a few times but overall considering the crowds it was OK. We did a few runs on Peak to Creek which is in great shape this year with no line up at the Creekside Gondola.
The rest of the week the snow has been excellent with cold temperatures. The numbers of people on the hill has started to get back to normal which is nice.
Today the snow changed for some reason and wasn't as soft. I can't figure out why as it is still cold.
They also got the Horstman T-Bar running today. It is quite narrow on the track you ride up so keep the skis or boards running straight. I was thinking if they ran the motor in reverse they could have people ride up on the other side of the towers which has lots of room. Maybe they can't do that or maybe they didn't think of that.
Looks like a little snow coming and more normal temperatures.

Blackcomb Glacier tour today, Guests from Australia, New Zealand and Colorado.

Sun coming up over Mt Currie this morning.

Tracks on the Poop Chutes.
Sunset from our balcony tonight.
Congratulations to my next door neighbour Marielle Thompson on leading the pack this year in FIS Ski Cross. This is her latest car. She seems to get a new one at least every year from Audi for her accomplishments.
