Thursday Report for Feb 2 2017

This week was a cruising week with no new snow. Most days were sunny though with the cold arctic front back again. Boy it has been a cold Winter.
Friday was a fun day. The groomers got creative and groomed the Peak to Valley Race Course, the steepest part of Rhapsody Bowl and Lower Mckconkeys. Of course we did them all 3 times. The latter 2 runs sure seem a lot steeper when groomed.
The runs are not what I would call icy, as most you can get a pretty good edge on. Sure makes for some fast runs though. You have to be careful on runs like Springboard because if you are not careful there are at least 6 places you can get airborne. Spanky's Ladder's Ruby Bowl is apparently very good, so give it a try according to Mountain Host Joe.

Some great videos that Whistler Blackcomb and Telus have put together.

This is the trailer for the movie Alaska that was filmed on the Blackcomb Glacier and other areas around Whistler.

It did warm up a bit today with a front approaching.Looks like snow starting tomorrow continuing into next week. Some other weather sites are not so optimistic. If they are right about the snow there should be quite a bit falling Saturday through Monday. I will cross my fingers.

I was a little short of photos this week so added some other interesting ones.

Big Blackcomb Glacier tour today.

A Rubber Chicken was spotted recently that mysteriously skis a lot like Eddie the Pirate.
This is the current ice cave on the Blackcomb Glacier last year.

And this is what it looks like this year.
This is the ice cave on the Horstman Glacier Winter of 2004-05. This was part of our tour that Winter.
These are 2 of  3 ice cave entrances on the Blackcomb Glacier Winter 2004-05

That's me in the first one.

This was the 3rd ice cave.

Skier taking air out of the 3rd ice cave.

Another look from the topside looking at the first ice cave.People were actually skiing into the top and out the bottom.
