Thursday Report for May 11 2017

Can't believe I am still doing a Thursday Report this late in the season. Skiing is still great on the non rain days. I am not sure if you can still ski out to the Blackcomb Base as I have been in Vancouver for a few days. I would think so. If not, it is a farther walk from the free lot 5 to get to the Wizard lift. Weekends are ok as you can take the Excalibur Gondola from Base 2.
The biggest natural avalanche I have ever seen came down in Lakeside Bowl last Thursday in the late afternoon. Ski Patrol is aware of the dangers of warm weather and has been keeping areas like this closed. It looked like at least a 4 foot fracture line.
Again hard to believe but they are forecasting snow, colder temperatures and some sun until Tuesday. Guess I will have to do a few more days up there.
I am blowing away my previous record of days skiing and snowboarding, Currently 121  days on Whistler and Blackcomb plus 5 days on the Powder Highway. 10th place in vertical for staff but I have 2 people right on my tail now. One of our new Mountain Hosts, Rich, is trying to make it to first place. He is in second right now. He thinks he can do it as the number one person has quit for the season. All he needs is just under 100,000 meters more to get to 1,310,000 meters. Go Rich go!

Preparing a big jump on 7th Heaven probably for a video shoot.

Big avalanche in Lakeside Bowl.
