Another great week! Nearly every day I go up seems to be a powder day. Then Tuesday arrived with rain very high on the mountains. It then froze and a crust formed off piste that was skiable if you trusted it enough to not break through. Yes Wednesday was interesting. The conditions did chase people off the hills early as there were virtually no lineups anywhere. Crust, hard pack, some powder, and bone chilling winds.
Today there were no lineups at any of the Village lifts until around 10:30am when the Village Gondola started to back up. It never got very big though. I guess my hopes came through with the Holiday Crowds finally leaving. We can sleep in now and not have to worry about lining up before 7:30am except on Saturdays of course and any day at Creekside. One comment today from a Staff member was that it was the quietest day ever.
I did a test today to see if you really have to make a reservation to ski, as we have never seen anybody rejected. I tried to go through the gate at Fitzsimmons and it didn't open and it said Invalid Ticket. That answered that question.

My chief Meteorologist Rod is predicting a Polar Vortex coming, so try and find your warm clothes now so you can be ready for it. He didn't say when, but maybe in a week?
It finally looks like a week coming up with just a little new snow. It would be nice to have a few days in a row with some sunshine. By the way we have a 249cm base and Vail. CO only has a 78cm base so a few days with sunshine won't hurt us.

One day I went to the Fitzsimons chair (on a very very busy weekend), I thought I had made a reservation but the gate didn't open, so I must have not clicked the last window on the web site. The staff waved me in and had me register on line right there and accepted me. she says its happened before and I guess they leave a certain number of spaces open for moments like that. Did you try that?
