Another great week. Still super quiet on the mountains mid-week. The grooming has also been very good. We have had the odd little snowfall which when you get to do a run like Ptarmigan first thing in the morning with 2 inches of new snow on top of wall to wall grooming and no tracks it is amazing. The good thing is the snow is dry and most slopes off piste are quite skiable.
COVID is starting to grow in the Valley with some bars and restaurants being shut down temporarily. On the mountains everything is pretty safe with being outside most of the time, spacing in lineups and chairs and then large distances between tables in the lodges for coffee and lunch. Most days you can just ski right onto any lift without waiting. I think we are going to get spoiled. Remember the days of waiting 20 minutes to get up a lift and roaming around the lodges looking for an empty table to have lunch at.
I noticed a Ski Patroller in a new black uniform with lime green crosses on it. It was a test uniform. This is the colour Vail uses at other resorts. Don't think they would stand out as much as the typical red suits.
Cross country skiing and snowshoeing is very good as well as skating on the lakes. The ice is thick enough now.
So sorry to hear Grace Oaks past away at age 86. She was an amazing lady and what a great skier..

Depending on which forecast you look we are going to get a lot of snow through the weekend or just a little. Let's hope the first one is correct. It is time to get some bigger dumps. Temperatures are staying cold but not too cold.
